Q & A

What made you choose a medical career?

I am amazed at how the journey through the seasons of my life has so nicely mirrored my nursing/medical career. In the beginning, my three aunts who are nurses started the very first “buds” to nurture the idea of nursing as a career. In the “bloom” of my life I was raising my two sons while supporting women through the labor process – nineteen of those years at Methodist Hospital. Now, as I “change,” I am experiencing a similar change in my nine year career as an WHNP, caring for many perimenopausal and menopausal women going through their own changes in life. I can only imagine the many wonderful colors of the winter……….

What are your clinical areas of interest?

I am passionate about women’s health care in all ages and stages.

What is your philosophy of patient care?

Each woman is an individual and needs the best quality care for her lifetime. A provider needs to spend time with that person to discover those unique needs.

How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)

I have a variety of interests and hobbies including experiencing all aspects of nature and take frequent walks or enjoy gardening. I am an avid “cropper” and scrapbook the many memories of my life and my family. I love reading, doing word puzzles and Sudoku to keep my brain active. I enjoy teaching and have given many presentations on women’s health care around the Omaha area as part or the Methodist Speakers Bureau.

Provide an interesting anecdote about you.

My husband and I love to travel, so for our 25th wedding anniversary in 2004, we went to the beautiful green isle of Ireland and took a tour with 48 new friends. It was breathtaking.
