Video Profile:

Why did you decide to become a physician?

As a child I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian, I loved taking care of my pets. In college, I worked as a medical tech on an oncology floor. The conversations and relationships I developed with patients transformed me and I decided I wanted to be a physician. I feel it is a gift to go home at the end of the day and feel that you made a difference in someone's life.

What are your clinical areas of interest?

As an OB/GYN I have the opportunity to develop lifelong relationships with patients. I enjoy the excitement of obstetrics and getting to share in the joy of a growing family. As a gynecologist, it allows me to continue to care for a woman beyond her childbearing years and to use my surgical skills. I particularly enjoy laparoscopic, vaginal, and in office procedures.

What is your philosophy of patient care?

Mutual trust and communication are key to patient care. My role is to provide patients with options, encouragement, and to be a resource as they make decisions about their medical care. My philosophy is to treat patients as I would want my loved ones to be treated.

How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)

I like to spend as much time outdoors as possible (usually running), it's even better with company of friends, family, or my pug Mr. G. Willikers! I'm also am a big fan of HGTV and enjoy dreaming of DIY projects ( I just need more time to get them done!).
